A local business that champions human health has set about creating a space that encourages employee-to-employee interaction in an inspiring, exterior space.  The resulting design creates an outdoor space for meetings, impromptu gatherings, and sharing meals – all framed under a version of a modern arbor.  The structure consists of a series of glu-laminated timber members that function as both column and beam.  Additionally they touch down on an adjacent berm, adding to a feeling of protection and privacy.  Smaller wood louvers are spaced for sun protection and act as a scaffold for grape vines.  The vines in turn act as additional sun protection and a source of sustenance, in season.  A structure that can both shelter and feed its inhabitants feels appropriate for an outdoor dining area.
