Collaborating with Thrive Architecture

Set in a larger context of banal office buildings and chain restaurants, this 8,000+ sf spec office building eschews typical ribbon windows and formal heroics in favor of simple volumes and a rich material palette. The low-slung structure features dark masonry walls as the primary cladding material, embodying an innovative approach to commercial design. Warm, tongue and groove cypress boards wrap the walls and overhangs along the planted front walk, welcoming visitors and signifying entry points. The solid cypress canopy at the entrance gives way to cypress slats that allow sunlight to filter down to the planting beds. Several key large windows were strategically placed to encourage tenant connection to the outdoors.
